Here I'm showing 25 minutes of knob tweaking in a new VST synthesizer called Waverazor. This is still version 1.01 hence there is no parameter editor to alter the effects more precisely. A first play of the Nyx from Dreadbox. It is very, very good. No external effects, reverb is from the unit itself (the time knob acts as a tone/predelay control so a pseudo delay effect shows up somewhere, neat). Nyx is being fed by 4 midi channels from the octatrack which I adjust throughout. I haven't explored the patchbay or routing modes much yet, more to come though. Disc

Thought i'd post this just so people could hear the sound it's possible to get just with a line in to your comp... Been trying to get a clean ambient sound for use in my next track but i dont wanna buy a POD or some other guitar USB input... You'll have to choose the sounds and tones you like best. I think the Pittsburgh Synth is a bit more sophisticated and will take a little more tweaking and practice.
Really love the sounds you are getting from this... I am awaiting my pre-ordered Erebus v3. I hadn't really paid attention to the Nyx, but it's filters and reverb give it a lot of character. I really loved what was going on at about the 7 min mark.
why 4 midi channels and not just one ? could you explain ? what are controlling with 3 more channels ?
Nyx will just play the last two midi notes sent on any channel, I have 4 running from the Octatrack here because then it is a one button click to change the melody via a mute.. Combining different channels creates variations, though here the 3note bass is pretty much always on.. at least that's what I can remember, was just playing around with it =)
Thanks for this. I was very interested in buying one for my home studio to get some hands on control over efffects to use with my hardware synths. How well does the line6 work with line level synth inputs since it's really designed for guitar level signal? Does it accept stereo line inputs?
fx returns can be line level - there are 4yes accepts stereo line inputs

Yeah my bad its def FL Studio. Traktion makes this synth and theyre DAW Waveform 9 looks just like this with the same colors.
Vincent Salamatino I used the free version of Tracktion and didn't think much of it. There are other free DAW's which are much better. Pro Tools First is way to heavy and dysfunctional. Reaper is light and probably the most powerful. Ableton Live Lite is popular and great for DJs. Cubase LE is better on PC than Mac. I always found FL Studio to be resource consuming but it is as popular as Logic Pro X and Ableton Live.
happy sub ya... you sold me on the nyx.....first vid i watched on it about a month ago... got the mother 32, dfam, and behringer d since then and never forgot this thing and your sick melody. this synthi will so stand out amongst everything new and already acquired..... the voice stealing/priority idea created such a happy accident here in omni mode... awesome idea, definitely 'worked', as you replied in a comment here. sick overall demo too, flying around on the panel. my NYX is coming in a couple days! thanks much and bless! o7🐛

Maybe the sound is easier to manage if the buttons and sliders have midi-learn. Than you can link these to an external controller such as FL's envelope- or LFO-tools.
Waveform9 Tracktions flagship DAW allows you to midi learn anything and actually has LFOs built into theyre automation allowing u to use a LFO to automate any parameter of any vst.
Since you have the synth in a Patcher instance (cause you're not retarded, right), right-click Waverazor, click input, click parameters. Your last tweaked parameter is gonna be the first one.
What does the Octatrack do? Just feed it midi signal? can't a computer do the same thing? great demo.
Pretty much just feeds it midi - a computer can do the same thing but I had no direct connection at the time (no usb on NYX) so the OT was convenient.

There is nothing like unusable in music. Music is based on sound and everything is sound. The "unusability" and the description "experimental" are just made up by your mind. Nothing more than concepts you have learned.

Nah, it's extremely versatile. Only the factory sounds are unusable. The template presets are great to work from.
